Above: My great-great Uncle, Bernard 'Barney' Sheridan, the eldest child born to Nicholas Sheridan and his wife Bridget McGrath, both emigrants from Ireland.

Above: One of Barney's sisters, Alice Christina Sheridan. Neither Barney or Ali ever married.

Above: The handsome John 'Jack' Sheridan who died from blood poisoning as the result of injuries received whilst fighting a fire at Yarrawonga.

Above: The hero of the Sheridan men...Captain Thomas Frances Sheridan, who died at Fromelles on July 19, 1916, leaving behind him in Melbourne a young wife, a little son John and a baby daughter Allison, whom he never met.

Above: These directions to the photographer were written on the back of the previous photo. Tom's brother Paddy Sheridan, who was living in Berrigan at the time of World War 1, was obviously having a civilian photo of his loved brother adapted as a memorial photo to include his captain's uniform and have the photo cropped as a bust rather than a full-length as in the original.
